Introduction

This website was created to provide the history about the traditional elements in Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival. Throughout this site history about the origins of Carnival, history of the steelpan as well as the history of some traditional Carnival characters can be found. There will also be an interactive element where people can leave their views about why they believe traditional Carnival should be respected.

I created the website to share information about a part of Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival that may not be known by many and to highlight characters that may have been forgotten. This is a topic I am very passionate about because I find all aspects of Carnival interesting; learning the history of Carnival is fascinating no matter how many times you hear it. I believe that this part of Trinbago’s culture should be cherished as it is a part of the country’s history and preserved for future generations.
